Stupid Criticisms

Well...there has been quite some bugging going around about LCA Tejas all over the internet...these include frustration, lack of self confidence etc etc

quite a few criticisms are quite valid...n i agree n second them...but many many many n many more of them are totally ridiculous and illogical.

Here I will try to analyze some criticisms.

1. LCA should be scrapped or declared as a technology demonstrator since its not meeting the requirements even after approximately 3 decades of initiation of the project.
   
   well well well...this would have been a good option if lca would have still been on paper...being a proper flying jet now (with some anomalies of course)...if this is implemented...The only difference b/w  "The Hare And The Tortoise" story and this will be that in former case the loser loses due to over confidence and in latter due to under-confidence. Ok now this was just an example...lets check out the possible impacts...
   
   Criticism from the whole world for not being able to develop a single fighter jet and still dreaming of being a superpower
   
   Losing confidence of the innumerable industries which have and/or are planning to set up R&D centers in India or are investing in India
   
   Becoming a world-wide joke (its better to keep trying rather than halting....ACTUAL FAILURE IS ONLY WHEN YOU STOP TRYING AFTER A FAILURE)
   
   Not caring about those who have worked hard to get some success at least (imagine u have to write a 100 page novel, u write 99 pages and some1 burns ur book....or being a lil tech savvy we can say formats ur comp before taking a backup)
   and much more....
   
2. The Pakistanis have developed their own plane, why can't we??
   
   I really hate when people start comparing India and Pakistan like a war and not competition...who gives a damn if they have developed it...even UK France Sweden China Russia USA have developed it...so y cant pakistan??
   
   anyways...just for sake of answering...and with no offence to any pakistani or pak govt or any1...The JF 17 which we are talking about here is basically developed by China from a rejected Soviet design. the contribution of PAC (Pakistan Aeronautical Complex) has been close to nothing...all they have done is taken some decisions (in consultation with China) regarding the project....developed the software for the jet in C++ (although C++ has been used as basic programming language in higher schools in many countries including India, it was chosen as the programming language to exploit the high number of civilian Pakistani engineers....a very wise decision indeed)...
   
   You people already know where and by whom Tejas was developed (now for those people who are thinking that foreign players are involved in the project so.........now understand that involvement of foreign players does not make it non-indian project....HAL (Hindustan Aeronautics Limited) had the main responsibility and everything had to be done as per HAL's norms and Terms & Conditions
   
3. How come China has made so many aircrafts then?...after all its actual growth and development started  in the same time as India.
   
   again same thing....why to compare dammit??...anyways...again just for answering....Chinese have just incredibly mastered the trick (or should i say Shortcut) of something called reverse engineering....they go luk at stuff....thoroughly understand the technology....and apply them
   
   on the other hand....in India we dont have that system and we want to make and reinvent everything in our own way despite having no history of having done such things in fields of COMPLEX tecnology (now its upto you if you wanna view it as a decision of self-respect or a foolish decision....personally i am quite diplomatic on this)
   
4. LCA is inferior to MIG 21...
   
   guys...first of all...MIG 21 was much ahead of its time n was one of the best fighters during its era and served its purpose pretty well
   
   LCA is nowhere inferior to MIG 21...the most latest and considered to be the most advanced in MIG 21 variants is the MIG 21 BISONS.....it has impressed every1 right from americans to europeans and russians of course...even MIG 21 BISONS doesnt have as advanced features as the LCA....now i have seen some people saying that since it was meant to replace the mig 21s...its of that quality and hence cannot be considered 4th gen and similar stuff....well going by logic of these people...F-35 lightning II (the 5th gen fighter in development by USA) is noway better than the one that wright brothers flew...and no aircraft in the world has ever advanced...afterall they were all replacements for initial aircrafts since the man started flying....
   
5. But dude,  three decades...does it make sense??....why can't we just move forward to create the AMCA (Advanced Medium Combat Aircraft)??
   
   Oh cmon, you live in country where delays are not very uncommon....and its not 3 decades...here is the myth buster....
   
   although the LCA project officially started in 80s (1983 to be precise)...the actual funding, design phase etc etc everything began only in late 1980s and early 90s...at that time the aim was to develop the project within 10 years and make it fully operational....so at the most the jet should have been fully operational by 2005-06 or so...but now it nowhere seems to be active before 2014 or 2015...so basically delay is of 10-14 years or so....but technically...yes...three decades......reason for delay??
   
   Tech embargo slapped on India after nuclear tests, bureaucracy, to some extent HAL not working to full efficiency, lack of political will, closed doors or unattractive jobs for new talents as many of them are just looking for govt. jobs for job security, allowances and other perks etc etc etc...
   
   So basically yes, HAL deserves some criticism for the delay
   
6. But tech embargo was also slapped on pakistan right??...then how come....??

7. We should just accept that we can't do anything....
   
   temme something...USA and France got their independence within 20 yrs (approx)...We struggled for 90 years (counting for the first war of independence in 1857) and achieved it only in 1947....so going by your logic we should have stopped struggling for freedom by 1877 or 1887 or max till 1897 right??
   
   if this would have been the attitude of our former leaders (LEADERS and not politicians)....there would not have been even a slight difference in the dawn of 15th August 1947 and 15th August 2011....grow up get a life change ur attitude...accepting is good....but not convincing...if WE accept and just sit....no use...if we accept and DECIDE TO CHANGE and CHANGE it...anything (trust me...ANY damn thing) can happen
   
8. LCA did not participate in the Indian MRCA tender....therefore its failed aircraft
   
   this is something really stupid i read on the net somewhere...well in that case....Japanese aircrafts do not participate in global tenders widely (Although I have never come across any news that japanese are selling their defence tech to any other country....but i am not sure about it so i am using the word "WIDELY")....
   
   Also, JF 17 is a failed aircraft right??....coz the Country that made it (China) is not acquiring it ....isnt it??....grow up man...Why would there be a need for the MRCA tender if Tejas was already operational??
   
9. Why can't we just increase the MRCA tender to 400 or something??
   
   My dear friend....Fighter Jets are not ordinary cell phones or laptops or simple home gadgets that we buy in wholesale to fulfill the needs....126 jets are costing billions of dollars....just imagine the price of 400 of them...and its not just the price....add the maintenance cost too....and fighter jets are not something that are manufactured in large amounts in short period of time....they hardly make 20-30 of them per year...so by the time the order for 400 would be complete...the first batch would be needing upgrade and the planes would have already become obsolete considering the theory (i forgot the name of the theory and the person who gave it) that progress in technology doubles every 18 months (1.5 years)...
   
   and btw...on one hand you are criticising HAL for not living upto its expectations and on the other hand u are just trusting it to manufacture those many jets in short period of time??...strange isnt it?? (the MRCA deal is going to be a Transfer of Technology deal where 108 out of 126 planes will be manufactured by HAL in India itself)
   
10. LCA project is three decades old therefore its already an obsolete aircraft...
    
    the F-16 project is much older...isnt it working even today??....cmon guys...there is a word in english called "UPGRADE"...these fighters are often timely upgraded...in development phase....the aircraft that you see 5 years ago, now and 5 years down the line are SIMILAR but NOT the SAME....
    
11. The JAS GRIPEN (a Swedish Aircraft...also a former contestant for the MRCA deal) started almost during same time...now its completely operational and considered to be one of the best aircraft....and for LCA we still only have prototypes and LSPs (Limited Series Production)
    
    the swedish played better and fared well till now....they are better than us in this stuff....simple....why to be so cynical??...accept the truth....sweet or bitter!!!..but dont just sit now...try beating them :P
    
12. LCA is not 100% indigenous as it is claimed to be....
    
    whole world knows that...no opposing this point....just to add a lil positive attitude it can be said that LCA is not 100% indigenous as it is claimed AS OF NOW....
    
    and btw 60-65% components are indigenous....just for knowledge :)
    
13. Why is the tax payer's money being wasted in this project??
    
    Well see...here i wont directly oppose you...just give my opinion....rest is ur wish....
    
    every country (esp. a country like India) needs fighters for its air force....now either you make your own plane....or buy it from other countries....in making your own plane...your money stays in your country itself...govt has to spend less...the country can sell these planes to other countries and earn revenue....numerous jobs created...the knowledge gained can be employed in future projects....it will become an asset and not a liability
    
    now in buying from foreign country...ur money goes to foreign country.....no good to be done to ur country except getting some jets for defence...it will become a liability and not an asset
    
14. But whats the use of investing so much and not getting the desired product....
    
    well you are getting what your air force desires....its just not on time....isnt it better that u get proper stuff after lil wait rather than getting it immediately and ultimately it being of no use??
    
15. What about those 40% foreign components??....there toh my money is gone na??
    
    when you buy a car....use it for some years...now you want 4 new wheels...will the combined cost of wheels be more than that of the car itself?....buying spare parts is lot more wiser than getting a whole new stuff....and India as u know is not that rich n foolish to do such stuff
    
16. HAL is foolish to not involve pvt players into this
    
    well to some extent i do support this....but the problem is that none of the private players in the country have an experience of manufacturing such stuff (at least none of them as far as my knowledge is concerned but if there are some or even one....do enlighten me on this)....
    
    so ultimately those Pvt players will hav Joint Ventures with other foreign partners and whole objective of making it indigenous will be flushed down the drain
    
17. There is wide spread corruption within HAL, ADA and the whole defence industry of India including the DRDO
    
    well...umm...no comments on this one....cant be ruled out and is quite possible....

    I would love to update this information from time to time...I purposely did not go into technicalities and just presented a general viewpoint....i do not belong to any of HAL or other govt departments nor is this a propaganda blog...you are obviously and definitely free to speak and give your suggestions and feedbacks...but if you do not like something or are against something...please do speak it out and do not just keep it to urself....but also pease provide proper reasoning for whatever you say....
    
    I am sorry if anything written sounded rude or discriminatory or anything...this is just my attempt to bring a little positiveness to already bashed up project...take care and have a good life ahead...
